Copper pipe
Rigid metal water supply pipe joined by soldered or press fittings. The long-standing standard for residential water lines, and still used for repipes and for the visible connections at fixtures and water heaters.
Why does copper get pinhole leaks?
Water chemistry, velocity and age combine to pit the pipe wall from the inside until a tiny hole opens. One pinhole is a repair. Several across the house means the whole system is at the same stage, which is when a repipe is the sensible answer.
