PEX
Cross-linked polyethylene tubing, a flexible plastic water supply pipe joined with crimp, clamp or expansion fittings. Widely used for repipes because it can be snaked through walls with fewer joints than rigid pipe.
Is PEX a good choice for a repipe?
It is one of the two standard choices, along with copper. It resists scale and pinhole corrosion, handles ground movement better than rigid pipe, and installs faster. It must be kept away from sunlight and some installations still call for copper stubs at fixtures and at the water heater.
