What does drain cleaning and rooter service fix?
Drain cleaning and rooter service clears slow drains, full backups, gurgling and drain odors by removing what is blocking the pipe. Done-Rite Plumbing & Rooter clears drains across Orange County with a 1-hour response and no trip charge.
You hear a gurgle from the shower drain when the toilet flushes. Or the kitchen sink fills with dirty water and just sits there. Those sounds and smells mean something is blocking the pipe, and a bottle of chemical drain opener usually isn't the answer. At Done-Rite Plumbing & Rooter, we clear drains every day, and we're ready to help in your Orange County home.
What causes slow drains, gurgling and backups?
Most slow drains and backups come from grease and food in kitchen lines, hair and soap scum in bathroom lines, or tree roots inside the sewer line. Root clogs can turn a small problem into a big one.
- Kitchen drains: Grease goes down warm and liquid, then cools and sticks to the pipe wall. Food bits catch on it. Over time the opening gets smaller until water can't get through.
- Bathroom drains: Hair, soap scum and toothpaste twist into a sticky mat that grabs anything else passing by. A plunger often can't break it loose.
- Sewer lines: Tree roots grow into cracks and loose joints and form a mat that catches toilet paper, grease and waste.
How do tree roots get into sewer lines?
Tree roots get into sewer lines through tiny cracks or loose joints. Sewer pipes carry warm, wet waste, and a small opening lets a little vapor out. Roots find that opening and grow inside.
Once roots are in, they spread into a thick mat that catches toilet paper, grease and waste. A root clog isn't just a blockage. The roots keep growing and can crack or shift the pipe, which may lead to pipe repair or repiping if it isn't handled. Our guide to why drains keep clogging explains the most common repeat causes.
How does Done-Rite find the cause of a clog?
Done-Rite often starts with a camera inspection. A small camera on a cable shows exactly where the blockage is and what it is made of, so the plumber can pick the right tool the first time.
Is it a soft clog of grease and hair? Hard mineral scale? A wall of roots? Seeing it saves you from paying for chemical treatments or repeat snaking that never reach the real problem. We also offer a free video inspection.
What is the difference between a drain snake and hydro jetting?
Most clogs clear with a professional drain snake. Heavy scale, roots and clogs that keep coming back usually need hydro jetting, which scrubs the whole pipe wall with high-pressure water.
- Drain snake (auger): A cable with a cutting head breaks up soft clogs and pulls debris out. Our snakes are stronger and reach farther than the ones you can rent.
- Hydro jetting: A stream of high-pressure water scrubs the pipe walls clean and flushes the mess down the line. Think of it like a pressure washer for the inside of your pipes.

What happens during a drain cleaning visit?
A drain cleaning visit follows five steps: assessment, camera inspection when needed, a clear explanation with the price, clearing the drain, and a flow test with cleanup.
- Arrival and assessment: Our licensed plumber arrives, listens to what's going on and checks the problem drains.
- Camera inspection: For stubborn or repeat clogs, we run a video camera through the line to see the cause and the exact spot.
- Clear explanation: We show you what we found and explain your options and the price before we start.
- Clearing the drain: We use a drain snake or a hydro jetter, depending on the type of clog.
- Flow test and cleanup: We run water to make sure it drains well, and we clean up the work area.
What is included in Done-Rite's drain cleaning price?
Drain cleaning at Done-Rite runs $99 to $350, and the $99 price includes a camera inspection. Hydro jetting runs $650 to $850. There is no trip charge.
The $99 camera inspection price covers one qualifying drain with an exterior ground-level cleanout. Yard drains aren't included. Catching a problem early can be the difference between a simple cleaning and a bigger repair later. A root intrusion left alone can damage the pipe and lead to work on your sewer line.
Why do Orange County customers call Done-Rite for drains?
Done-Rite Plumbing & Rooter is an independent, family-owned company serving homeowners since 2014. The company is licensed, bonded and insured, offers a 1-hour response and charges no trip charge.
Whether you're in Garden Grove or Mission Viejo, when we arrive, we get right to finding the problem. We listen, look at the drains and use our tools to find the cause. Then we explain what we found in plain language, lay out your options and give you the price before any work begins. No pressure. Just an honest look and a clear plan. When the job is done, we clean up, and every job comes with a 1 year minimum warranty on labor.
Can a clogged drain point to a bigger plumbing problem?
Yes. A drain that keeps clogging can point to a damaged pipe, roots in the sewer line or a hidden leak. Looking at the whole system helps fix the cause, not just the symptom.
- Damaged pipe: If roots cause repeat blockages, the pipe itself may be damaged. A video camera inspection shows the full condition of the line so you can decide what to do next.
- Hidden leak: Water backing up in odd places can be a sign of a hidden leak. Leak detection can find it without tearing things apart.
- Water heater trouble: If your water heater is struggling while we're there, we can look at water heater repair too.
How can you keep drains flowing between visits?
Keep grease, food scraps, hair and wipes out of your drains, since they are the usual causes of household clogs. Call a plumber when a drain slows down, before it stops completely.
- Scrape plates into the trash, not the sink.
- Let grease cool in a can and throw it away.
- Use a hair catcher in showers and tubs.
- Only flush toilet paper, never wipes, even ones labeled flushable.
- Run hot water for a bit after using the kitchen sink.
A slow drain is easier to clear than a full backup.

Drain Cleaning & Rooter questions
$99 to $350, and the $99 service includes a camera inspection. The $99 price covers one qualifying drain with exterior, ground-level cleanout access, and excludes yard drains. Lines that need more than a snake fall in the rest of the range.
Snaking punches through a clog and gets flow back fast. It's the right call for a single stoppage, starting at $99. Hydro jetting ($650 to $850) scours the full diameter of the pipe and is the right call when grease or roots keep coming back. We'll tell you which one your line actually needs after we look.
A drain that clogs on a schedule usually has a cause the cable never removed: a belly in the line, root intrusion, a broken fitting, or heavy grease build-up. That's exactly what the camera inspection is for: we find the reason instead of selling you the same snaking every six months.
We don't recommend them. Caustic drain openers sit against the pipe wall, damage older cast-iron and ABS, and rarely clear a real blockage. They just move the problem down the line and make it more dangerous to work on.
