Raised foundation
A foundation where the floor is built on posts, piers or perimeter walls above the ground, leaving a crawl space. Water and drain lines run in that crawl space rather than under concrete.
Is a raised foundation easier to repair?
Usually the pipe is reachable without breaking concrete, which makes leak repairs and repipes less disruptive. The trade-off is that the crawl space can be tight, damp and low, and a leak there can go unnoticed for a long time because nothing shows on the floor above.
