//Glossary
Slab leak
A leak in a water or drain line that runs beneath a concrete slab foundation. Because the pipe is under the floor, the water goes into the soil or up through the slab rather than dripping where you can see it.
What are the signs of a slab leak?
A warm spot on the floor, the sound of running water with everything off, a water meter that keeps turning, a jump in the water bill, or moisture and cracking at the edge of the slab. Two of those together are a strong signal.
Does a slab leak always mean breaking up the floor?
No. Electronic detection locates the leak first, so the concrete is opened only where it has to be. In some cases the failed line is rerouted overhead or through walls instead of under the slab at all.
