//Glossary
Video camera inspection
Running a waterproof camera on a push rod through a drain or sewer line and watching the inside of the pipe on a screen. It shows the blockage, the pipe condition and the location of any break, belly or root intrusion before a repair is quoted.
Why does the camera go down before the quote?
Because a sewer repair priced without seeing the pipe is a guess. The camera shows whether the line needs a cleaning, a spot repair or a replacement, and a locator on the camera head marks the exact point on the surface above the problem. You see the same screen the technician sees.
When is a camera inspection worth doing on its own?
Before buying a house, before approving anyone's sewer quote, and whenever a drain has backed up more than once. It turns a recurring mystery into a picture.

A camera inspection is included with the $99 drain snaking, and Done-Rite offers a free video inspection so the problem is on screen before anyone quotes a repair.
